Silencio was programmed to be premiered on 19th December for Rede Concerten in Almere. Unfortunately, the Dutch Government announced a second National lockdown three days before the concert. Thanks to the quick reaction and the joint efforts of the promoter, the musicians, and the sponsors (Fonds Podiumkunsten and Stadsherstel Amsterdam), the cancelled concert turned into this beautiful online Christmas recital for all of you to enjoy for free.

Since 2019 Anna Stegmann and Jorge Jiménez have created programmes together that take them beyond their usual habitat. Being educated in the field of historically informed performance practice, they combine their expertise in early music performance with crossing borders towards repertoire of later centuries, including unconventional arrangements, and improvisation in multiple styles. The result is something new altogether: a sound world which liberates itself from conventions and preconditions about style and performance practice while conveying the highest musical and artistic quality.
Individually, Stegmann and Jiménez have explored different formats of programming as artistic directors of their own groups: Tercia Realidad and Ensemble Odyssee, while performing with the foremost early music ensembles of today, such as L’Arpeggiata, La Risonanza, B’Rock, Academy of Ancient Music, English Baroque Soloists, Capella Cracoviensis, Forma Antiqva, The Royal Wind Music. They have recorded CDs for renowned labels (Hyperion, Atlantic Records, Glossa, Challenge Records, Pan Classics).
Their first project LUNARIS brought them to perform at the Melbourne Recital Centre in Australia 2020, the mommenta Festival in Germany 2019 and will be released on CD for GWK-Records in February 2021. A video in collaboration with German artist Lukas Zerbst and the Gesellschaft für Westfälische Kulturarbeit Münster featuring the music of LUNARIS will be available online from 2021.

Always present in the sky yet out of reach, the moon has been captivating mankind for centuries. Traditionally, the moon’s phases, from full moon to total darkness, are believed to influence human behaviour and to affect our emotions. Enacting them musically in their programme LUNARIS, Anna Stegmann and Jorge Jiménez associate each phase of the moon with human expressions and moods to create an exciting travel through sonic spheres.
With various recorders, violin, and vielle, the duo performs four sets around the mythical appearances of the moon. Electronic soundscapes amalgamate sound and style while taking the listener on a journey where the gap between old and new diminishes and the music seems to evolve from one era only – the world of today.
