I attended Ensemble Odyssee’s CD presentation concert at the Greenwich Early Music Festival 2016 and was immediately struck by the spontaneity, tangible joy and filigree ornamentation exuded by these players. This live advocacy for Babell completely won me over, and their newly released disc does not disappoint, combining artistic excellence and integrity with a glorious edginess and unflinchingly direct concept of sound and musical intention. Ensemble Odyssee plays this music as though their lives depended on it.

Anna Stegmann maakt deel uit van het Ensemble Odysseeen met Eva Saladin – viool, Ivan Iliev – viool, David Alonso Molina – altviool, Agnieszka Oszanca – cello en Andrea Friggi – klavecimbel bleek het ensemble véél meer dan alleen maar goed op elkaar ingespeeld. Er werd muziek gemaakt en niet alleen maar (virtuoos) uitgevoerd. De ‘kraker’ was het tweede deel van het Concerto per flautino, RV 443, van Antonio Vivaldi.
